Why You Must Write Down Your Goals on Paper

WRITE IT DOWN & The Universe Will Bring It To You

Welcome to another edition of BigK Ideas. Today, we delve into a transformative principle that has the potential to reshape your life: the act of writing down your goals and visualizing them.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to achieve their dreams effortlessly while others struggle? The secret might be simpler than you think. It's about writing down your aspirations and consistently reminding yourself of them.

Imagine having a roadmap for your life, a guide that directs you towards your dreams. That's what happens when you jot down your goals. This isn't just a motivational spiel; it's a principle that countless successful individuals swear by.

Keep reading to learn exactly what you need to do on a daily basis to get exactly what you want in the next 12 months!

Why it works?

  1. Psycho Neuromotor Activity: When you write down your goals, you engage in a multi-sensory experience. You see, feel, and even sub-vocalize your aspirations. This process imprints your goals onto your subconscious mind, turning them into a driving force in your life.

  2. Clarity and Precision: Writing forces you to be clear and precise about what you want. The clearer you are about your goals, the more likely you are to achieve them.

  3. Daily Reminder: Re-write your goals every morning and night to keep them at the forefront of your mind. It's a daily commitment to your dreams.

Do this today!

Follow the steps outlined below to gain clarity, focus, and direction in your pursuit of personal and professional goals. This process is designed to empower you to identify your most impactful goal, create a concrete plan, and take consistent actions toward its realization

  1. Preparation: Take out a piece of paper and a pen or pencil.

  2. Write "Goals" and the Date: At the top of the paper, write the word "Goals" and the current date.

  3. List 10 Goals: Write down 10 specific goals that you would like to accomplish in the next 12 months. These can be related to various areas of your life.

  4. Choose the Most Impactful Goal: Circle or highlight the goal from your list that, if achieved, would have the greatest positive impact on your life.

  5. Create a New Page for the Chosen Goal: Turn the paper over or start a new page and write the chosen goal at the top.

  6. Set a Deadline: Beneath the chosen goal, write down a specific deadline by which you aim to achieve it.

  7. Brainstorm Action Steps: List out all the actions you can think of that will help you achieve your chosen goal. Write down everything that comes to mind.

  8. Take Consistent Action: Begin now!

Here is the video I consumed for inspiration when writing this post.

For step 2: Follow the below instructions

Once you have written your 10 goals as mentioned above in step 2, repeat this process the next day on a new piece of paper without referring to the previous page. You will find that your words change and the order of your goals may also change - which is okay.

Do this every single day.

I like to re-write my 10 goals in the morning with affirmations on the opposite page. Here is mine from earlier today. The best time is immediately in the morning - before doing any other work!

Why you must write your goals down on paper

  1. Physical Engagement: Writing down your goals physically using pen and paper engages the body and senses, making the process more impactful and memorable.

  2. Subconscious Programming: The act of writing activates the subconscious mind. Handwriting programs the goals into the "hard drive" of your subconscious, making them work 24/7 to help achieve those goals.

  3. Visualization: Writing down goals is a form of visualization. It helps you see your goals clearly, reinforcing your belief and focus on achieving them.

Michael Jackson’s goals

  • The story of Michael Jackson's handwritten dreams is recounted. At the age of 21 in 1979, he had scribbled his aspirations on the back of a tour itinerary.

  • His dreams included becoming an incredible actor/singer/dancer who would shock the world, refraining from interviews, being a perfectionist, researcher, trainer, and mastering his craft.

  • Michael Jackson's promise to study the work of great entertainers and improve himself is highlighted by his life.

“If you're bored with life, if you don't get up each morning with a burning desire to do things; you don't have enough goals.”

Lou Holtz

“Speak what you want, make it your truth, and it will come true.”

Stay awesome
